“With more success requires more money, especially at the speed at which they’re grabbing market share,” Kallhoff said. “They’re one of the best, if not the best, partner I’ve ever had.  “Cylance truly understands the channel, respect loyalty, and rewards partners that are committed to delivering results, according to Kallhoff.  “A lot of people are talking,” Kallhoff said. “Not a lot of people are fulfilling the promise.”

Kallhoff would like to see Cylance spent some of the money on more cooperative marketing with channel partners to help them reach decision-makers and cut through all the hype. This is particularly important since the endpoint security manufacturers are all pretty much saying the exact same thing today, Kallhoff said.

Two-thirds of MSPs say a shortage of qualified IT security professionals for hire contributes to the challenge of ramping up their cybersecurity offering, and roughly half of MSPs have difficulties with remote deployment and management of their cybersecurity solutions, according to a Kaspersky Lab research report.

MSSP Alert’s spin on the report is rather straightforward: With those data points in mind, most MSPs will need to partner up with full-blown MSSPs and SOC (security operations center) providers amid the journey beyond basic endpoint and firewall security management. MSPs A Tantalizing Target As Major APT Group Ups Number Of Attacks

“We think a lot about it. Even today we saw some unique stuff coming at us that we acted on,” said Justin Kallhoff, CEO of Infogressive, a Lincoln, Neb.-based managed security services provider.

Kallhoff said his business works to protect itself from being a third-party vector of attack to its clients. He said MSPs are “just as susceptible as everyone else” to attack but pose a “target-rich environment” for attackers, with admin-level access to dozens or hundreds of clients. On top of that, he said MSPs are often small businesses and aren’t as focused on security, focusing instead on tickets and operational efficiency.

“I think that’s a really smart move by attacker groups and it should be really scary to the world, especially to MSPs,” Kallhoff said. “A lot of MSPs are small businesses. They’re not huge, so they lack the enterprise resources. It’s a crime of opportunity,” he said. Kallhoff said he sees more MSPs turning to partner with MSSPs, as a result, to keep pace with client security demands, which he said have been driven up drastically by the recent wave of ransomware attacks.

Sophos Slams Cylance In Blog Post As Market For Endpoint Security Heats Up

Justin Kallhoff, CEO of Infogressive, a Lincoln, Neb.-based Cylance and Sophos partner, said he usually advises that clients adopt both vendor solutions, as Cylance’s anti-malware capabilities are complementary to Sophos’ multi-featured solution, which includes UTM, DLP, web filtering, IPS, USB protection and firewall.

Kallhoff said that in his experience, Cylance “consistently” finds malware in environments running competitive solutions, including Symantec, Vipre, Trend, McAfee, Malwarebytes, ESET, Panda, Windows Defender, Kaspersky and Webroot.

“It’s Infogressive’s recommendation [clients] should run both products simultaneously as they’re both effective and give customers defense-in-depth which is our core philosophy,” Kallhoff said in an email.
